Amara Baptist

Amara Baptist, born in Glendale, California, started training in ballet at the age of 12. Her wonderful teachers have included: Ruben Tonoyan, Eric Conrad, and Edgar Nikolian. In 2006, Amara traveled to Moscow, Russia, where she trained under Elena Riabinkina, a former principal of the Bolshoi Ballet. In 2007, she competed in Youth America Grand Prix and received a full scholarship to the summer program at Washington Ballet. Her repertoire includes variations from Le Corsaire, Giselle, Esmerelda, and the principal role of Gayane. She currently dances with TransClassics Dance Company and Creations Dance Theatre. In 2010 Amara was the principal role of Sugar Plum in CDT’s Nutcracker. Amara is currently working on different dance projects and experimenting with different styles of dance including contemporary and modern.
